He has an opportunity to get the gorilla off his back, he has offense jamming it down the throat of a defense that has been on the field for nearly 25 minutes, and he decides he wants to bet it all on a rookie kicker from 40 yards out on a soaking wet field rather than rely on three guys going to the pro bowl.

WC, just got back from the game. All I can say it SICKENING. However, Marty s not to blame for this one. An NFL kicker, rookie or not, needs to make a 40 yd FG. If you don't have the confidence in him to do that, he shouldn't be on the roster. Any other team with kickers such as Elam, Vanderjaagt, Longwell, Anderson, Akers, Carney, etc......... would do the same. The field was not so bad. Make the FG and nobody says a word about Schott's playcalling.

Whoremoan...couldn't disagree more. The Jet's defense was gassed. There is no reason in the world to settle for "field position" at the 25....at least gain 10 more yards if you are going to call off the dogs. Ask Brees, LT, Gates, Parker, et.al, who they think would be a better option to win the game. At least make the Jets stop you first before you let them off the hook. Nate Kaeding should have been the LAST option, and only if the Jets could have stopped the Charger offense on that last drive.

They did what EVERY NFL team does in that situation. Had they kept trying to move the ball, they probably could have. You are right about that. But had there been a fumble or INT eveyone would have asked how the ____ can you be taking a chance and not setting up the FG. Kaeding makes the kick, and nobody says BOO about the playcalling. End of story. An NFL kicker needs to make that kick

Hey Fellas. Didn't See The Rookie Take Any Practice Kicks On The Sideline. Or Did I Miss It?

I agree 100%. If theat feild goal would have ben from 25 instead of 40 it would have been good.
The dumb ass spent 3 or 4 downs in a don't lose mode, insted of lets win now mode....thats why he is 5-12 in playoff games.
